Meet Ashley Brewer, sportscaster and wife of Frank Kaminsky

Much like her husband, NBA center Frank Kaminsky, sportscaster Ashley Brewer paved her own path in the world of athletics.

The longtime couple — who first crossed paths six years ago — made their union official in July 2023, when they tied the knot in a beachy ceremony in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, where they were surrounded by 85 of their closest family members and friends.

Here’s what you need to know about Kaminsky’s bride and their road to the altar.

They first met in 2017

The newlyweds first connected in 2017 when Kaminsky, 30, reached out to Brewer, 31, through Instagram DMs after seeing her on TV.

At the time, Brewer was working for ABC7 in Los Angeles and covered the Dodgers and Rams, among other sporting events, as the weekend anchor.

She also co-hosted “The Bachelor Winter Games” on ABC before transitioning to ESPN in 2020.

“She was so beautiful I had to try and find a way to meet her,” Kaminsky said, according to People.

“Just so happened that she was in New York visiting a friend the same time as me when I was out there on a road trip to play the Knicks. I asked her to get dinner and we instantly had a connection.”

When did things get serious?

Due to their busy schedules, the two remained close friends for a few years before Kamisky expressed his feelings in 2021.

Brewer has called Kaminsky “the most kind and down-to-earth guy” as they fell in love and eventually got engaged in Maui, Hawaii, in 2022.

“We started our relationship as friends, and it’s only grown stronger and more fun every day,” Brewer said.

Brewer is a former ESPN anchor

Brewer was let go from ESPN in June 2023 following the network’s latest wave of layoffs.

Prior to her departure, Brewer had been behind the “SportsCenter” desk since September 2020.

She previously served as a host for “SportsNation” and a co-host of the Sunday night edition of “GameNight” on ESPN radio.

“I am so grateful for my time at ESPN and the opportunity to host Sportscenter. I learned and grew so much as a broadcaster and person,” Brewer wrote in a tweet following the news.

“I will really miss all of the wonderful friends I made along the way. I know God has a plan for my life and I look forward to what’s next.”

She was a standout college swimmer

Brewer swam at UT Austin during her freshman and sophomore years of college before transferring to the varsity women’s swimming team at USC for the remainder of her collegiate career.

Brewer was a strong backstroke swimmer in both 100 and 200-yard back heats, competing in three events at the 2013 Pac-12 Championships.

What’s next?

The all-white wedding ceremony came a week after the ESPN layoff news.

Kaminsky also remains a free agent in the NBA offseason, unsure of his next destination.

Kaminsky was on the Hawks and Rockets during the 2022-’23 season.

For now, though, the couple is headed to Bora Bora for their honeymoon to open this next chapter of their lives.

“We both value our faith and the commitment of marriage, I couldn’t be more grateful to start a life with someone who shares the same values and has the same goals for a family that I have,” Brewer said.
