Best sex toy stores of 2024: The top 24 brands to shop online

Want top-of-the-line adult toys for the bedroom? Recommending them is our pleasure.

Well, your pleasure is actually what we care about. Adult toys can be a taboo subject, but in today’s day and age, more of us are reclaiming our sexual needs and making sexual health a priority in 2024. Also, it’s almost Valentine’s Day, and what’s a better way to say I love you to yourself or someone else than by giving the big O?

Here’s a thing about the best sex toy brands? There are a lot — and we mean a lot — of them out there. In fact, there are a lot of adult toys in general, which can make the process of finding the right one overwhelming. Lucky for you, we’ve reached out to Brooklyn-based columnist, sex and relationships expert, and activist Zachary Zane, as well as sex expert Lisa Finn of Babeland, to get the 411 on everything ooh la la.

From couple-friendly toys, there’s no shortage of options to make your eyes roll back and toes curl.

What are the best sex toys for beginners?

“If you’re buying your first sex toy, I love to recommend something versatile,” says Finn.

She recommends looking for ones that offer a variety of settings, so there’s an option of exploring what sensation feels best. “Don’t be afraid to get creative and take the time to explore the sensations that your toy can provide.”

Zane echoes this sentiment. “You may like softer vibrations and consistent stimulation or more powerful vibrations in a “morse code” pattern. You don’t know yet! So get a toy with various vibration speeds and patterns to learn which you like best.”

Although there are a ton of multipurpose toys, he also recommends that newbies keep things simple in the beginning. “Some elaborate sex toys stimulate the clitoris, G-spot, and anus simultaneously. These toys are phenomenal, but the more bells and whistles, the more confusing and impractical the sex toy becomes.

“Right now, you’re exploring sex toys. You want to learn what feels most pleasurable for you, and the best way to do that is to focus specifically on one part of your body individually.”

LELO

Best for: Luxury vibrators, Women, Wearable vibrators

For luxury sex toys and wellness devices, LELO is one of the top brands that satisfies that title. It has racked up awards year after year from the XBIZ Awards as well as the Adultex Awards, and the reviews reflect the same.

The brand’s bestseller page has options for all genders, including the highly-rated GIGI 2, with an average recommendation rate of 93%. The vibrator, which targets the G-Spot, features eight different settings and can even be enjoyed in water.

“I bought this recently and it’s changed the game. It’s as quiet as it advertises and the battery life has never been a problem,” reads a review. “If you’re looking to spice things up, it’s a great beginner-friendly product, 10/10 recommend.”

For couples, we recommend the Smart Wand 2 L. The body massager’s head is made of soft silicone that’s warm to the touch, while its 10 pleasure modes offer relaxation, as well as thrilling vibrations.

The Firefighter, for example, looks like a flame and is designed to heat up your evening (or morning) with its mind blowing sensations. The clitoral vibrator is super quiet too, so no one will be the wiser that you’re playing around with its four speeds and two pulsation modes. And The Tennis Player? FAQ

What are the different types of sex toys?

“There is a large variety of sex toys on the market; everyone’s body is unique, and the ways that we experience pleasure are, too,” says Finn. “It only makes sense that there are so many different styles and categories to choose from.”

Sex toys tend to fall into one of 10 categories:

However, there are subcategories within each of these groups. “For example, under penis toys, you can find rings, strokers, and penis pumps,” says Finn. “In BDSM, you can find everything from feather ticklers to spanking toys and restraints.”

Similarly, dildos, which are their own category, are also penis toys. “Some, like Fun Factory’s Stronic Petite, actually thrust, meaning they are motorized, and the base/head of the dildo will jut out two to three inches to simulate the sensation of getting [penetrated],” explains Zane.

He suggests that beginners stick to something small when selecting their toy(s). “Often, our eyes are bigger than our stomachs (or, in this case, [other parts]). You don’t want to spend a lot of money investing in a giant sex toy that’s painful to use.”

What type of material is the best for sex toys?

“You want sex toys that are made from body-safe silicone,” says Zane. “It is wild how many sex toy manufacturers skimp on the material and use material that is not deemed safe for human bodies.

“Additionally, I recommend purchasing a toy from a company, like Fun Factory, with at least a two-year product warranty. Sex toys break even high-quality sex toys. If you purchase your toy from a company with a two-year warranty, you know it’s high quality and is protected if it does break.”

If you’re allergic to silicone, there are still options for fun.

“The most popular toy materials for sex toys that are used vaginally or anally like vibrators, anal toys, dildos (and so on) are [stainless steel], glass, and ABS plastic. These are all non-porous materials that are easy to clean and often come in platinum or medical grades. Look out for toy materials that have a chemical smell or become discolored with use – you do not want those toys inside your body.

“For soft toys, like penis strokes, silicone blends such as [thermoplastic elastomer known as] TPE are popular. Some of these blends can be porous materials, but trusted retailers make sure that they are body-safe in that they are free from potentially harmful chemicals such as phthalates.”

What are the best new sex toys currently on the market?

When it comes to the best sex toys on the market right now, it all boils down to personal taste and needs. Our experts, of course, do have some favorites, which are generally crowd-pleasers. For Zane, one of the best sex toys worth having a go with is the VIM. The rumble wand is excellent for both men and women, has a flexible head, offers clitoral stimulation, and is 50% quieter and 32% lighter than the leading wand available to purchase right now.

If you’re curious about anal toys, he suggests something like the Bi Amor. “This tiny silicone plug is excellent for vaginal and anal beginners. (It has less than five inches of insertable length.) The slight curve of the Bi Amor hits the G-spot (or prostate), and it’s compatible with harnesses for those interested in trying pegging.”

For clitoral suction, Finn recommends The One Rose Clitoral Stimulator. It’s a favorite of the Babeland sexperts. It’s made with silicone, water-resistant and offers three different patterns and seven forms of pulsation and suction.

For the guys, the Manta is a winner. Its inner ridges can actually hold lube, and it has six intensity levels and speeds. Shopping for you and your significant other? The Under Bed Restraint Set will leave you tied up in fun for hours.
