After an extensive interview with market research firm, NPD Group, about toy trends in 2023, they emphasized the drastic impact inflation has had on the economy, explaining that many families are more focused on buying essentials, therefore more likely to buy low-budget options when it comes to their children’s toys. Two categories they mentioned were bubble toys to use in the backyard during the spring and water and sand toys ahead of summer 2023.
The Toy Association has also noticed a trend they’re call “Macro to Micro”, which is where manufacturers are playing with the sizing of toys traditional used only indoors or outdoor and making it possible to use in both scenarios.
