Brazilian bodybuilder André Cavalcanti was killed last week after being involved in a deadly motorcycle crash in his home country.

The crash took place in the northern region of Parana on July 5 after a 17-year-old allegedly was driving his parents’ car without their permission and collided head-on with Cavalcanti’s motorcycle.

The incident occurred along BR-369, a Brazilian highway that spans 766 miles, and occurred between Ibipora and Jataizinho, according to The Sun

The outlet reported that the teenage driver was taken to the hospital and Cavalcanti was thrown from his bike and pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other minors were also in the car, ages 15 and 17, The Sun reported.

Police are considering charging the driver as an adult and with a crime that would be similar to homicide.

“It is with great sadness that we announce that our Pro Support athlete [André Cavalcant]i passed away this morning in a motorcycle accident,” IFBB Paraná wrote in a translated post on Instagram. “It was such a young life, full of plans. We ask God to comfort his family with the news of this tragedy.

“André was a great athlete, friend, [and] partner and he will always be remembered as the honest and dedicated person that he was. We’ve had a great loss here on Earth, but heaven gains a gift.”

The tragic passing comes several months after a Portuguese bodybuilder died in April.

Marco Cesar Aguiar Luis — better known as “Monster” — died in Germany at 46 years old after Neil Currey died at 34 in September from a mix of drugs that included steroids.
