A sequel to “The Devil Wears Prada” is reportedly en route.
Aline Brosh McKenna, the screenwriter behind the hit 2006 film, is reportedly working on a follow-up project, according to multiple reports.
Wendy Finerman, producer of the original film, is set to develop and produce, while the original director David Frankel is having conversations about a return, Deadline reports.
While the original cast hasn’t been confirmed to return yet, the reported plot description hints that both Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt will be back.
The outlet adds that no casting deals are in place as of yet.
Streep portrayed the Wintour-esque editor of Runway magazine, Miranda Priestly, while Anne Hathaway and Blunt’s characters, Andrea Sachs and Emily Charlton, respectively, played her overworked assistants.
While details about the rumored sequel are still scarce at this time, Fox 2000 Pictures — which funded the original film — is now owned by Disney following its acquisition of 20th Century Fox, which was announced in 2017 and completed in 2019.
The Post has reached out to reps for Streep and Blunt, as well as Disney for comment.
The hit 2006 film was loosely based on Lauren Weisberger’s book of the same name, written about her experience as an assistant to longtime Vogue editor Anna Wintour.
Streep went on to earn her 14th Academy Award nomination for the film, playing the character many believe to be inspired by notoriously imperious Vogue editor Anna Wintour.
The movie has become a cult classic amongst millennials, with its witty and sharp humor producing multiple quotable lines.
The “Mamma Mia!” actress, 75, last year admitted that she was miserable while filming because she attempted Method acting.
“It was horrible! I was [miserable] in my trailer. I could hear them all rocking and laughing,” Streep said of her co-stars. “I was so depressed! I said, ‘Well, it’s the price you pay for being boss!’ “
“That’s the last time I ever attempted a Method thing,” she added.
Blunt, 41, also recalled that Streep often isolated herself during filming.
“Meryl is so gregarious and fun as hell, in some ways it wasn’t the most fun for her having to remove herself,” Blunt previously said.
“It wasn’t like she was unapproachable; you could go up to her and say, ‘Oh my God, the funniest thing just happened,’ and she’d listen, but I don’t know if it was the most fun for her to be on set being that way.”
Fans of the hit film were fed some crumbs earlier this year after Streep joined forces with Hathaway and Blunt onstage at the SAG Awards 17 years after the film premiered.
The famous trio came together to present an award at the Feb. 24 ceremony.
