Lionel Messi and Argentina are headed back to the Meadowlands.
After taking down Chile at MetLife Stadium on June 26 in a 1-0 nail-biter, the club is returning to the Jets and Giants’ home field on Tuesday, July 9 for a semifinal match against gritty Canada — whom they beat 2-0 earlier in the tourney — to determine who will advance to the Copa América Final.
This match won’t be a walk in the park for the 2022 World Cup-winning Argentina, though.
Canada is coming off a shocking victory over Venezuela in the quarterfinal round that came down to an intense penalty kick shootout.
“I thought that we took Venezuela to the limit,” Marsch said in a press conference following the match. “Our goal is to try to push teams to their limit and see if they can manage us.”
