Trader Joe’s recalls popular candle over possible fire risk: ‘We urge you to discard’
Sounds wick-ed dangerous.
Trader Joe’s is recalling a popular candle over an “unexpected burn pattern” — said to put buyers at a safety risk.
The trendy grocer’s 5.7-ounce, $4 Mango Tangerine scented candle has an issue where “the candle flame can spread from the wick to the wax, causing a larger than expected flame,” the company warned.

“If you purchased the Mango Tangerine Scented Candle, please do not use it. We urge you to discard the product or return it to any Trader Joe’s for a full refund,” the recall added.
Customers can call Trader Joe’s at (626) 599-3817 or can reach out online.
The incendiary defect has reportedly impacted customers. One member of a private Facebook group said their candle “completely caught on fire after I lit it,” according to CBS News.
“Just had a terrible experience with this candle in which it melted the entire top layer of wax in mere moments, caught itself on fire, and stunk up my whole house,” a Reddit user added.

On average, 21 candle fires in the US are reported daily, according to the National Park Service.
In April, a salmonella outbreak was linked to basil sold by Trader Joe’s.
