Don’t expect Jay Wright to ever coach the Knicks — or anyone else for that matter.
Every offseason it seems, Wright’s name gets thrown into the coaching carousel mix. It gets mentioned with high-profile college and NBA jobs.
Right now, for example, it’s natural to wonder if Wright could be a Knicks coaching target, given that they’ve assembled seemingly his entire championship team from Villanova.
Also, some suggested he could be a player for Kentucky when John Calipari left for Arkansas and there was a report he was a candidate for the Lakers’ job when Dan Hurley opted to stay at Connecticut.
But Wright, the former Villanova coach who retired in 2022, reiterated in an interview with The Post that he has no interest in returning to coaching at the age of 62. He’s loving life as a CBS college basketball analyst.
“No,” Wright said, when asked if he has any interest in coaching again. “It’s humbling that someone would even mention you or think about you. I’ve been around so long, all the guys who are making the decisions, I know those guys. I wasn’t talking to [Lakers general manager] Rob Pelinka at the end of that. There were no conversations.
“You know you can’t stop it, so you have to sit back and say it’s part of the business. When you’re not coaching anymore, you’re still kind of flattered that somebody would think of you.”
