How to watch Oilers-Panthers in Game 7 of the 2024 Stanley Cup for free

No matter what happens in tonight’s Stanley Cup Finals Game 7, the result will have been a long time coming.

The Florida Panthers are just one win away from winning the first Stanley Cup in franchise history, just one year after losing the Finals in five games to the Vegas Golden Knights. For the Oilers, the team would reach the pinnacle of the NHL for the first time since 1990, led by their captain Connor McDavid, who was branded a “Next One” prior to his NHL debut nine seasons ago.

At the beginning of the Stanley Cup Final two weeks ago, it seemed unlikely that there would be a Game 5, let alone Game 7. With a win in Game 3, the Panthers had a 3-0 series lead and certainly seemed primed to win the whole thing, but since then, the Oilers mounted an impressive and unlikely comeback. Their three consecutive wins in Games 4, 5, and 6 forced this winner-takes-all final game.

So, even if we can’t agree on who should win, or simply don’t care (especially after the Rangers fell to the Panthers in the Eastern Conference Finals), we all can agree: this was a pretty hilarious turn of events for a series that seemed to have a clear-cut ending.

As one X (formerly Twitter) user put it, “the only thing funnier than going up 3-0 and winning in game 7 is going down 0-3 and winning in game 7 so whatever happens tonight at least comedy won.”
