Bowman’s vulgar, profane political rally: Letters to the Editor — June 25, 2024

The Issue: Rep. Jamaal Bowman’s profanity-laced speech at his Saturday re-election rally in The Bronx.

Is there any better way for people to know what these progressives are about than the way two of them acted at their last rally (“Bronx is buffooning,” June 24).

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez danced to a Cardi B song with lyrics degrading women. Rep. Jamaal Bowman then got up and used the most vile language imaginable.

With leaders like this, it’s no wonder our kids think nothing about using this kind of language and acting inappropriately. Of course, these progressives are also never honest in stating what they stand for.

Think of all the good men and women who died fighting for our freedoms and then look at these leaders. These progressives are disgraceful.

The sad display by AOC and Sen. Bernie Sanders in support of Jamaal Bowman is regrettable.

Bowman’s tirade would be an embarrassing way for even a sixth-grader to act. The entire campaign, and the fact that Bowman was ever elected in the first place, is a sad commentary on our society at large.

Vulgar music and foul language are both a symptom of a society in need of a reality check. Where are we now and where will this decline lead us?

Change cannot come soon enough.

The Post thought AOC and Bowman made buffoons of themselves because they played rap music by Cardi B at their political event.

So what? Cardi B is from New York. What were they supposed to play, Willie Nelson?

And I’m glad Bowman is willing to publicly call out AIPAC. AIPAC allows a foreign nation, Israel, to effectively buy out American politicians and preserve support for the genocide in Gaza. Politicians like Bowman and AOC show more priority in putting American interests first than a single pro-Israel politician.

AOC, Bowman and Sanders are prime examples of classless, foul-mouthed do-nothings.

The lyrics to that song also prove how illiterate Cardi B is. The rally, in all, was a disgusting spectacle. There is a stronger word to describe them than buffoons.

The Issue: An anonymous Sag Harbor resident’s view of the cop who arrested Justin Timberlake.

I believe that The Post’s article put the arresting officer in an unfavorable light (“Rookie Sag Harbor cop who arrested Justin Timberlake already well-known by locals for strict enforcement of traffic laws after just three months on the force,” June 22).

Officer Michael Arkinson should be supported for keeping the roads safe. To imply that Justin Timberlake is a victim of an overly aggressive police officer is wrong.

Timberlake drove drunk, which is not only illegal but incredibly dangerous. That’s the whole reason Timberlake is in this position.

Trying to “out” the arresting officer and paint him in this negative light is also not only irresponsible; it puts him and his family in danger. We are lucky we have people who patrol the roads.

Sag Harbor

The article quoted an unnamed and publicly unverifiable Sag Harbor resident to portray the arresting officer as an over-aggressive cop.

It’s hard to take that very seriously. What should be taken seriously is that Timberlake was driving under the influence.

Celebrities like Timberlake don’t get a pass to put people in harms way just because they are washouts from a long-forgotten boy band.
