Noteworthy items during the Mets’ Grapefruit League action Thursday:

Tylor Megill, in his second appearance this spring, pitched three scoreless innings in relief in the Mets’ 2-1 exhibition loss to the Astros in West Palm Beach.

The right-hander, who is battling for a rotation spot, struck out four and allowed two hits against a lineup that included Jose Altuve, Yordan Alvarez, Alex Bregman, Kyle Tucker and Jose Abreu.

Starting slowly

Luke Voit went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts as the DH and is 1-for-13 (.077) to begin the exhibition season.

Voit arrived in camp on a minor league deal.

Caught my eye

Brett Baty looked good on a diving grab of Tucker’s line drive in the second inning.

Baty’s first week has been solid defensively, but he’s only 1-for-10 (.100) at the plate.

Friday’s schedule

Luis Severino will pitch in his first game this spring, against the Cardinals in Jupiter.
