Dems would prop Biden up, run ‘Weekend at Bernie’s’-style White House: Ted Cruz

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) blasted Democrats for backing the octogenarian President Biden for a second term, insisting they would prop him up “Weekend at Bernie’s”-style to retain control of the White House — as a new poll shows two-thirds of voters think Biden is too old to effectively serve four more years.

“They’re not worried that he lacks the competence to do the job. There’s only one thing they’re worried about — that he would lose,” the Republican senator said in the latest episode of his podcast, “The Verdict with Ted Cruz,” which aired Wednesday.

“If they believed he would win, they’d be perfectly fine to ‘Weekend at Bernie’s’ him to stand up as a corpse and say, ‘Joe Biden’s there and let’s keep pulling the puppet strings,'” he continued.

“The Democrats and the media would be perfectly happy if they could wave a wand and put Joe Biden there four years or more.”

Cruz, 53, has previously suggested Democrats may “parachute in” former first lady Michelle Obama to be the nominee at the national convention, and said in his podcast Wednesday that the ongoing media criticism of Biden’s age could result in “the moment where they’re trying to see if they can out [Biden] and replace [him] with Michelle Obama.”

Still, he said he believes the Democrats are prepared to push Biden through as the nominee — and will be “completely silent” about concerns regarding his age.

“If he stays the nominee, they’ll get back in line and they’ll immediately begin saying, ‘It’s ageist and racist and horrible [to] even ask these questions,’ and they have no shame,” the Texas Republican said.

Cruz’s comments come as a new Quinnipiac University poll showed that 67% of voters said Biden is too old to serve another term, compared with 57% who said the same of his likely GOP opponent, former President Donald Trump, who is 77.

A mere 34% of voters believe Biden has the mental fitness to serve four more years, while 48% believe Trump is mentally fit to run again.

This Quinnipiac survey, conducted from February 15 to 19, polled 1,583 adults and has a margin of
error of 2.5 percentage points.

Another recent ABC News/Ipsos poll found that a whopping 85% of voters believe the 81-year-old president — the oldest commander-in-chief in American history — is too elderly for another term in office.

Meanwhile, a humiliating special counsel report also recently concluded that the 81-year-old Biden is an “elderly man with a poor memory.”

The president’s team, however, has continued to deny that he has any memory problems, and maintain he is perfectly fit to serve another term.

Following the damning special counsel report earlier this month, the president even raged, “I am well-meaning, and I’m an elderly man and I know what the hell I’m doing.”
