Mysterious Eagles report leads to Adam Schefter-Craig Carton drama

Adam Schefter and Craig Carton are at odds over the FS1 host’s mysterious report involving the Eagles’ late-season collapse, with rumors swirling about infidelity.

Carton mentioned on “The Craig Carton Show” that the actual reason for the Eagles’ demise was “a problem that would splinter any group of men; it is a real significant problem that cannot be fixed.”

Carton stopped short of revealing any specifics on the alleged situation, while others on the show speculated that it involved women.

Carton also mentioned that the team was trying to fix it and was interested in seeing whether a high-profile player would still be with the team next season.

Schefter questioned Carton’s motive when discussing the Eagles report, downplaying his comments and theory.

“And by the way, I (messaged) somebody at the organization yesterday and said, ‘What is this?’” Schefter said during his 97.5 The Fanatic appearance with John Kincade, referring to Carton’s remarks.

“And the text back, the quote was, ‘None of that S word happened.’ And that’s what qualifies as a report; you can just go say whatever you want, and it gets clicks, and people care about it. Look, I think people are looking for a reason that their season went south. And I just think they got blown out at home by the Niners, the season unraveled, they never got it back together. It was injuries, it was chemistry, it was confidence. It was momentum. It was all those things.”

The Eagles started the season 10-1 before losing five of six games and getting embarrassed 32-9 by the Buccaneers in the wild-card round.

The collapse was so significant that there were rumblings head coach Nick Sirianni’s job was in jeopardy and the team fired both the offensive coordinator (Brian Johnson) and defensive coordinator (Sean Desai) after the season.

But Carton told The Post that the reason for the collapse goes deeper than that and questioned how Schefter could have confirmed or denied his reporting.

“Considering I never said what the situation was, what exactly are the Eagles denying?” Carton, the former WFAN host, said.

“I don’t know what the Eagles are denying. Just because the team is denying something and saying it didn’t happen, we should believe them?

“The fact that this has become such a big deal is comical. When Adam called Howie Roseman, what story did he ask him about in relation to what I said? I was very specific not to reveal what I know to be true. So again, what is ‘total S’ and what is being denied?”

Carton went on to mention the numerous stories – including receiver AJ Brown organizing an escape room gathering to build team camaraderie – of a disgruntled locker room that the Eagles dealt with behind the scenes throughout the dismal close of their season.

“If the Eagles or Adam are denying that there was dysfunction in the locker room they are not being forthright — just ask [Eagles safety] Kevin Byard or read any article from the Eagles beat reporters in December and January.”

In January, Byard said the Eagles’ locker room had “leaks everywhere” and called them “divisive.”
