Small plane lands on Long Island’s Southern State Parkway

A small, single-engine plane landed on the Southern State Parkway on Long Island on Tuesday morning, police said.

The aircraft, which took off from Republic Airport just before 10 a.m., had been flying low over Suffolk County before it ended up on the highway in East Farmingdale just before noon, New York State Police told The Post.

Police received a call about the aircraft’s unexpected landing at 11:45 a.m.

Two people were aboard the plane at the time of the incident. Both sustained minor injuries, police said.

The plane landed on the eastbound lanes near Exit 33.

It’s unclear what caused the plane to land on the parkway.
