Justin Fields’ trade drama grows with Bears Instagram rumors swirling

Bears fans are speculating Justin Fields and the Chicago Bears are headed for a divorce after the quarterback appeared to cut ties with the team on Instagram.

Social media was buzzing when some eagle-eyed fans noticed Fields is no longer following Chicago’s official Instagram account.

It’s unclear if the 24-year-old Fields was following the team at all — and if he was, it has not been confirmed when he unfollowed the account.

The former first-round pick does follow his teammates, including Bears safety Elijah Hicks and offensive tackle Braxton Jones.

Fields’ last post on the social media platform was on Feb. 9, which featured a video of him training with Reebok.

The Bears — which have the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, taking place in Detroit from April 25-27 — have been linked to USC quarterback Caleb Williams.

Chicago could trade Fields before the free agent signing period begins March 13.

The Falcons have been consistently linked in trade speculation, as they need a quarterback and Fields grew up in Georgia.

Other NFL teams inquired about a potential trade for Fields at this year’s Senior Bowl, according to Sports Illustrated‘s Albert Breer.

Bears brass are reportedly meeting to “finalize plans” for the quarterback position, and expect to have a plan in place by the start of the NFL Scouting Combine next week in Indianapolis.

Fields threw for 2,562 yards with 16 touchdown passes, nine interceptions and a passer rating of 86.3 this season.

Chicago finished last in the NFC North with a 7-10 record after going 3-14 a year before.

The Bears own the No. 1 pick via the Panthers after trading last year’s top selection to Carolina in a deal that also included star receiver DJ Moore.

The Bears selected Fields with the 11th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Following a short stint at Georgia, Fields transferred to Ohio State and led the Buckeyes to a Big Ten Championship and finished third in the Heisman Trophy voting.
