Bettor has $431,000 riding on Clippers, James Harden playoff woes reversal

A preseason futures parlay has life after being put on life support as recently as October.

A $1,389 three-leg parlay on FanDuel Sportsbook has one leg in the bag and another on the way, leaving a massive $431,701.20 payday riding on the Clippers winning the NBA Finals.

The bet’s three legs includes the Chiefs winning the Super Bowl (+600), Manchester United placing in the top six in the English Premier League (+270) and the Clippers winning their first title (11/1).

With Kansas City already going on a wild ride to another Lombardi Trophy and Manchester United — sitting in sixth and six points ahead of seventh-place Brighton — at -240 now, the bet would now seemingly ride on Los Angeles to win it all.

Los Angeles hasn’t moved off its +550 odds, the third-best mark in the league behind only the reigning champion Nuggets (+440) and Celtics (+220).

The cashout in the screengrab post on X to @br_betting is now worth $26,527.77 after the Red Devils’ win on Sunday against Luton.

Their -240 odds to finish in the top six are behind fellow powers Manchester City (-20000), Aston Villa (-1500) and Tottenham (-1500).

According to the cash-out calculator, the true value of the bet is $46,873, so the cash-out isn’t necessarily the best value as the book takes a significant percentage based on the true odds.

Back in October, the bet was in desperate standing following a Chiefs loss to the Broncos.

Their odds moved to +900, their highest mark during this past NFL season.

Betting on the NBA?

It is not clear if the bet was made before or after the announcement that James Harden was being traded to the Clippers from Philadelphia.

But shortly after that move, the Harden-Clippers era was already on life support, with their odds getting as high as 25/1 during the growing pains after the trade.

The Clippers have been among the NBA’s best teams recently and are currently the third seed in the Western Conference behind the Nuggets and Thunder.

The hope is that Kawhi Leonard’s playoff pedigree supersedes the massive struggles that Harden has had in the payoffs.
