How the ‘Shameless’ cast feels about Jeremy Allen White’s ‘The Bear’ success

Yes, Lip!

Jeremy Allen White has shot to stardom with the hit show “The Bear” – but at his roots, he’s still a member of the Gallagher family.

“We’re all so proud of Jeremy,” his former “Shameless” co-star Emma Kenney, 24, told The Post.

“And, you know, I don’t think any of us are surprised by the amazing success he’s getting. And we’re so happy for him.”

For eleven seasons from 2011 to 2021, Showtime’s “Shameless” followed the antics of the perpetually hustling blue-collar Gallagher family in Chicago: alcoholic narcissistic patriarch Frank (William H. Macy), oldest daughter Fiona (Emmy Rossum), smart kid Lip (White), teen mom Debbie (Kenney), Liam (Christian Isaiah), Carl (Ethan Cutkosky) and their cousin Ian (Cameron Monaghan).

Following that role, White, 32, became a household name after his Hulu restaurant drama “The Bear” premiered in 2022. To date, he’s won an Emmy and a Golden Globe for his starring role as Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto, a fine dining chef who returns to his Chicago hometown to manage his deceased brother’s sandwich shop.

White also got a lot of attention for his recent divorce, and his Calvin Klein underwear ad

Backstage at the Golden Globes, he even got a slew of questions about the steamy ad.

“In the week you deliver the most-talked about Calvin Klein underwear campaign in years, you win this as well. When you go on the red carpet, when you speak to all of us, how surreal is it that we’re talking more about your underwear and six-pack rather than your astonishing, powerful performance?” one journalist asked.

“This is strange — I promise — um, uh, I don’t know. It’s been a weird couple of days,” White replied. “It is bizarre doing a Calvin Klein ad, and now even more bizarre having it come out, but everything feels OK for now.”

“What is the prouder moment: Something like this or seeing the world losing their minds over your Calvin Klein ad?” another reporter asked.

Holding up his Golden Globe trophy, he said: “This is a prouder moment.”

Kenney, who is currently on the “Roseanne” spinoff “The Conners,” also has high aspirations for her own future.

“I have a lot of goals,” she said. “I think I’m a really adventurous person in life and my career, and I really want to expand. I really want to dabble in a million different worlds: different genres, time periods, characters, locations.”

“I feel really fortunate to have done so many years on television,” she added. “I’ve consistently been on TV for 15 years. It’s crazy. I’m 24, so I feel very fortunate, and I’m also really excited for the future and to see what else is out there. But I love TV too. And especially the show. We have such a great time.”

Regarding her time on “Shameless,” she said that she did steal a prop after the long-running series ended.

“I took the famous mug that was the kind of iconic mug everybody would drink from,” she confessed. “I have that in my kitchen.”

She also said that the “Shameless” cast would all be open to a reunion.

“I think it doesn’t even feel like that much time has passed,” she explained. “The cast is all still so close.”
