NYC art professor who held machete to Post reporter’s throat burns American flag at July 4 pro-Palestinian rally: video
Disgraced, machete-wielding professor Shellyne Rodriguez burned an American flag at a pro-Palestinian rally in Brooklyn on the Fourth of July, a disturbing resurfaced video shows.
Rodriguez, 47, who was recently axed from Cooper Union for anti-Israel statements, is seen in the clip from 2021 tossing Old Glory into a heap of already-burning Israeli flags.
The crowd cheers louder as the stars and stripes ignite and chants, “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” a rallying cry that calls for the eradication of Israel.
The unpatriotic event was hosted by the extreme leftist group Within Our Lifetime, one of the organizers of many post-Oct.7 anti-Israel hate rallies.
“From Palestine to Mexico, all the walls have got to go,” the crowd chanted in the clips posted on Instagram.
In another WOL post, Rodriguez is seen leading protestors at a demonstration about a week after the Fourth of July rally. There, chants of “globalize the intifada” rang out and Rodriguez is seen orchestrating as activists follow with one sign that said, “From the U.S. to Palestine abolish the settler state.”
The socialist group shared a frightening map in November that identified New York City newsrooms, businesses and landmark buildings as targets for “direct action” to “globalize intifada,” using the Arab word for uprising.
Rodriguez, who also organized anti-police protests that led to mass arrests, was fired from Hunter College and the School of Visual Arts in May after she held a machete to a Post reporter’s neck and followed him and a photographer with the weapon. “I’m gonna chop you up,” she threatened.
The reporter was inquiring about a viral video showing Rodriguez cursing out a group of pro-life students.
“Shellyne Rodriguez’s violent and antisemitic actions are emblematic of a disturbing trend tied to extremist ideologies,” the antisemitism watchdog group Canary Mission told The Post. It has been investigating her “violent and antisemitic actions” and ties to radical groups like WOL.
“Universities must act decisively to prevent the spread of antisemitism and ensure the protection of Jewish students, rather than offering a platform to those who perpetuate extremism and hate,” the organization added.
