NFL would be ‘foolish’ not to show Taylor Swift on TV: Jason Kelce

A segment of the NFL fan base has grown tired of television networks showing Taylor Swift during Chiefs games while she’s been cheering on boyfriend Travis Kelce.

Kelce’s older brother, Jason, has a message for those fans.

“The attention is there because the audience wants to see it,” the Eagles center, 36, told Cincinnati’s WCPO-TV during Pro Bowl festivities on Friday. “I mean, if people didn’t want to see it, they wouldn’t be showing it, I know that.”

“She’s a world star. She’s the quintessential artist right now in the world — singer-songwriter, immensely talented, unbelievable role model for young women across the globe. So I think that the NFL would probably be foolish not to show her and be a role model for all the young girls out there.”

Swift, 34, has been a frequent presence at Chiefs games throughout the NFL season after first showing up at their home game against the Bears on Sept. 24, when the attention on Swift and Kelce’s relationship first exploded.

The networks have made a habit out of showing her reactions to plays involving Kelce, 34, and her spending time with Patrick Mahomes’ wife, Brittany.

She attended all three of the Chiefs’ wins in these NFL playoffs, which included being greeted by boos as she arrived at the Bills’ stadium for the divisional round.

Jason drew plenty of attention for himself that day, drinking beer shirtless and engaging with fans from a suite.

It was after that Chiefs-Bills game that Giants great Tiki Barber had finally had enough of seeing Swift during the game.

“[Kelce] scores a touchdown, and they pan immediately to Taylor Swift!” Barber said on Jan. 22 during his WFAN show with Evan Roberts. “Again? It’s not even Travis Kelce. Maybe it’s the Taylor Swift influence that has made me — I don’t want to say turn sour — but just be slightly annoyed with the Kansas City Chiefs. It’s also because they’re always here. After you’ve been somewhere for so long and have had the success they’ve had, it becomes inevitable.

“Why are you guys continuing to show Taylor Swift? The obsession is getting annoying. Why do we need to see her?”

Fans won’t get a respite during CBS’ broadcast of Super Bowl 2024 on Feb. 11, as Swift is expected to be in Las Vegas for the Chiefs’ clash with the 49ers despite having an Eras Tour show in Tokyo on Feb. 10.
