Couple catches stranger kick in front door and take a shower in their home on security app: ‘Naked, sitting on our couch’

A Tennessee couple said they caught a home invader using their shower after the squeaky-clean man kicked in the door to their home while they were out to dinner.

The Nardis were out enjoying a date night when they got an alert that there was movement in their house at around 7 p.m. last Saturday, according to WIS 10.

At first, they assumed the notification was one of their dogs setting off the sensor, and thought nothing of it.

But, what they saw next, freaked them out and had them frantically dialing 911.

The couple watched as a man kicked in their front door and started to rummage through their house — making himself right at home.

Even worse, the stranger then hopped in their shower to bathe.

“Our fur babies are there. There’s a man in our house we don’t know. We just need to get home,” Kerigan Nardi told the outlet.

The southeast Nashville couple immediately called the police.

When law enforcement arrived only a few moments later, they found the man hanging out in the couple’s living room, donning only a towel.

“He was naked, sitting on our couch,” Nardi explained.

“You don’t just violate people like that. It doesn’t matter what kind of psychosis you’re in. It doesn’t matter what kind of drugs you use. You don’t break into people’s houses and violate them that way.”

The suspect, Samuel Smith, was quickly arrested by police.

Smith was charged with aggravated criminal trespassing and possession of meth, according to the arrest affidavit obtained by the outlet.

The Nardis explained the clean-up following the frightful incident has been challenging.

“As he was taking a shower, in my home, he left some excrement behind. Yes, he decided that that would be a nice present for the homeowners, I suppose,” Nardi told the outlet.

The couple has since installed extra safety and security measures in their home to prevent something like this from happening again. WIS 10

The couple explained they had to disinfect their room, throw away the towel the man used, and bleach their shower.

Even with the hygiene hijacker in custody, they are still rattled by how easily he gained entry into their home.

The couple has since installed a deadbolt lock and has placed a barricade on their front door to position when they leave, according to the outlet.

They also said they plan on getting another camera and are advising their neighbors to do the same.

“I think that people need to just get cameras, and be careful because you never know,” Nardi said.
