LIV Golf botches name of new $600 million star Jon Rahm in season-opening graphic

Sometimes mistakes happen, and for LIV Golf’s graphics team, that time was Wednesday when it posted an image that misspelled star Jon Rahm’s name.

Rahm, 29, was one of LIV Golf’s biggest offseason additions when the rival golf league signed the reigning Masters champion away from the PGA Tour in December.

But it didn’t keep the golf league from making a small but crucial error when spelling his name while announcing the teams for the upcoming LIV Golf season.

In the graphic, which was posted and deleted shortly after, Rahm’s first name was spelled “John” instead of the correct spelling, which doesn’t include the H.

To make matters worse, LIV also misspelled his team name in a press release.

“Not only did LIV comms get Jon Rahm’s team name wrong in the press release yesterday, they spelt his name wrong in the graphic release today for the full season rosters! Can’t make it up,” @flushingitgolf wrote on X along with the graphic.

A graphic with the correct spelling of Rahm’s name is now up on the league’s social media channels, as it was correct Wednesday morning after the error was pointed out.

Rahm made the surprising decision to leave the PGA Tour at the end of last year for a massive deal with the rival league.

The deal could be worth as much as $600 million, it was reported at the time.

“This decision was for many reasons what I thought was best for me,” Rahm said in a conference call after the move. “Don’t get me wrong. It’s a great deal. I had a really great offer in front of me and that’s why I took it.

“They put me in a position where I had to think about it and I did.”

Rahm will captain his own team named Legion XIII.

LIV Golf’s first event is scheduled to begin on Friday in Mexico.
