Box of cremated human remains from 2012 found on Arizona trail

Authorities in Arizona are seeking possible family members after a box of cremated human remains dated more than a decade ago were found on a walking trail.

The “cremains” were discovered by a female hiker on the afternoon of Jan. 24, the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office announced.

The box was dated Nov. 22, 2012, and apparently contained to the remains of “Ann Kringle,” who died on Nov. 12 that year, the faded label showed.

The box was taken into custody and attempts are being made to contact the funeral home listed on the label to gather any additional information, such as a next of kin.

“The box was taken into custody and attempts are being made to contact the funeral home listed on the label to gather any additional information, such as a next of kin,” the sheriff’s office statement said.

Anyone with possible information about the remains is encouraged to reach out to law enforcement.

The label on the box indicates the remains were cremated by Evans-Brown & Hemet Valley Crematory in Murrieta, Calif.

The business did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for a comment.
