Conor McGregor says he’s fighting Michael Chandler in return bout UFC has yet to confirm

Conor McGregor is back, according to Conor McGregor.

The former UFC champion, who hasn’t fought since UFC 264 in July 2021, says his return will occur in June 2024 against Michael Chandler at 185 pounds, which is middleweight in MMA.

In a captionless video posted on Twitter, McGregor said the fight will also be in Las Vegas.

“I’d like to announce the return date for myself, The Notorious Conor McGregor, for the greatest comeback of all time,” he said while holding a glass of wine in a restaurant.

“Will take place in Las Vegas on International Fight Week on June the 29th,” he continued. “And the opponent, Michael Chandler, and the weight, Mr. Chandler, 185 pounds.”

McGregor’s claim has yet to be publicly verified or confirmed by the UFC or, frankly, anyone else.

Chandler did offer a comment on X across multiple posts.

“I always said I wanted you at your biggest, your baddest and your best. 185 would look good on me,” Chandler posted.

He followed up over an hour later.

“Don’t forget who was a natural featherweight who started his UFC career fighting cherry-picked bantamweights,” he said, directed at McGregor.

McGregor has won one fight over the last seven years, a TKO against Donald Cerrone in January 2020.
