Chiefs vs. Bengals, Patriots vs. Bills predictions: NFL odds, picks

Post sports gambling editor/producer Erich Richter is in his first season in the Bettor’s Guide.

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (-7) over Cincinnati Bengals

Buying the dip here. The Chiefs are coming off of a loss to the Raiders, and it feels like a major overreaction to have KC favored by only seven points.

Fading the Bengals’ defense is easy to do, as showcased by Mason Rudolph looking lights out against it last week, but Jake Browning’s play is enough to look at in its own right.

Browning threw three interceptions against the Steelers and didn’t show much until the game was well out of hand.

He had the seventh-worst passing grade on Pro Football Focus last week despite facing loose coverage for the entire second half.

The Chiefs’ defense might be able to win this on its own; it didn’t allow the Raiders’ Aidan O’Connell to complete a pass (0-for-7) in the second half.

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce (87) watches from the sidelines as the Chiefs trail the Las Vegas Raiders.

New England Patriots (+13) over BUFFALO BILLS

Bill Belichick in a spoiler role! Forget for a second that the Bills play down to their competition and just look at how huge this number is.

New England is allowing 3.2 yards per carry, best in the NFL. Meanwhile, the Bills have found their groove running the ball, running a league-most 35.7 attempts per game in their last three games.

Betting on the NFL?

Are we really sure that the Bills can pass the ball on the Patriots? I’m not. The Pats might be live underdogs against Josh Allen’s bunch of receivers who have struggled of late.

Last week: 2-0. Ravens (W), Dolphins (W)
2023 season: 14-16-2.
