Vegas woman who once claimed she was ‘too pretty’ to be arrested is sentenced in brutal murder of her mom

A Las Vegas woman who once claimed she was arrested and harassed by cops because they’d “never seen anyone as pretty as her” learned her fate on Tuesday after she was accused of killing her mother.

Hend Karim Bustami, 29, was sentenced to 15 years to life as she pleaded “guilty but mentally ill” to second-degree murder for the death of Afaf Hussanen, in October 2022, according to 8 News Now.

Bustami initially pleaded not guilty to the murder when she was indicted by a grand jury in March.

Though the self-proclaimed hotty was found mentally stable enough to stand trial, Bustami’s public defender revealed a psychologist “found her experiencing ‘intermittent exacerbations of psychosis’ and ‘in need of continuing psychiatric treatment,’” according to the outlet, citing court documents.

Bustami was arrested near Barstow, California, at about 5:30 a.m. in August 2022 after she called Las Vegas police three hours earlier to report that her mother was dead.

During the grand jury hearing, prosecutors played the call police Bustami made that tragic night.

Hend Bustami, 29, was arrested in California in 2022 after calling Las Vegas police three hours earlier to report that her mother was dead.

“Do you need police, fire, or medical?” the 911 dispatcher said on the October 2022 call.

“Uh, medical,” Bustami said, adding, “I think I killed my mommy.”

“Why do you think you killed your mom?” the dispatcher asked.

“Because I did. I murdered her,” Bustami replied.

Police responded to a residence, which Bustami and her mother shared, where they discovered the 62-year-old woman, who suffered multiple lacerations and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Barstow Police Department and the California Highway Patrol located and detained Bustami in California during a traffic stop.

Authorities said Bustami was “covered in blood” and again admitted to killing her mother, according to court records.

Investigators found evidence indicating Bustami was “involved in a verbal dispute” before killing her mother and fleeing the state.

Bustami first made headlines in August 2022 when she left a Chili’s Tex-Mex outpost at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas without paying her bill.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police found the soon-to-be convicted murderer sleeping “near the security checkpoint, hindering their operations.”

Bustami was arrested near the airport’s baggage claim, where she allegedly acted “belligerent” with officers.

Bustami threatened to “‘spit on all [the officers]’” while saying that “‘officers were perverts and were trying to rape her because they [had] never seen anyone as good-looking,’” according to the outlet.

The University of Nevada-Las Vegas graduate was booked on misconduct charges following the airport incident.

She also pleaded guilty Tuesday to charges of burglary, invasion of the home, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, sale of a controlled substance, or gaming crimes, for which she had prior felony convictions, according to 8 News Now.

She will be eligible for parole in 2037.
