Bill Belichick wants nothing to do with Taylor Swift questions before Chiefs game

Bill Belichick is looking to keep the Patriots’ focus on the Chiefs — not Kansas City’s superstar supporter.

During a radio appearance Monday on WEEI’s “The Greg Hill Show,” the longtime Patriots coach was peppered with some questions about Taylor Swift, the girlfriend of Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, ahead of New England’s clash against Kansas City this coming Sunday.

And in true Belichick fashion, he didn’t appear particularly enthused to keep the conversation centered on the 12-time Grammy winner.

Upon being asked, “Will you be meeting Taylor Swift, do you think?” Belichick replied, “I’m really focused on trying to get our team ready to play Kansas City.”

Elsewhere during the show, co-host Courtney Cox told Belichick they would be willing to accept possible spare tickets to the game — which Swift could potentially attend at Gillette Stadium — to which he responded, “I’ll pass that along to our ticket department … I don’t really know anything about tickets.”

Though it seems like Belichick wanted to shake off the questions, the eight-time Super Bowl winner is something of a Swiftie.

In late September after Swift’s first appearance at a Chiefs game, Cox asked Belichick — “Swiftie to Swiftie” — what he thought of the relationship.

“Well, I would say that Travis Kelce has had a lot of big catches in his career,” Belichick said. “This would be the biggest.”

Belichick, 71, also commended Swift, 33, for performing through a rain storm during her Foxborough, Mass., tour stop earlier this year — which he happened to catch.

“She is tough, man. She just stood out there and played right through [the rain],” Belichick said in August of Swift’s “Eras Tour,” which is on hiatus until early 2024.

Swift has attended six Chiefs games this season, including Sunday’s 20-17 loss to the Bills at Arrowhead Stadium.

Kelce, who has been linked to Swift since September, was involved in a crucial fourth-quarter play that could have given the Chiefs the lead and a potential win.

With less than two minutes remaining, quarterback Patrick Mahomes tossed the ball to Kelce, who then lateraled to wide receiver Kadarius Toney for the go-ahead touchdown.

Toney was flagged as offsides and the play was called back.

“It’s tough to swallow,” Mahomes said. “Not only from me, and football in general, to take away greatness like that, for a guy like Travis to make a play like that, you want to see the guys on the field decide the game.”

Kelce left Arrowhead with Swift after the game.

As for the Patriots, they are coming off a 21-18 win over the Steelers on “Thursday Night Football” — a victory that broke a five-game winning streak.

Kickoff between the Patriots and Chiefs gets underway at 1 p.m. on Dec. 17.
