Injured Trevor Lawrence’s walk to locker room without cart incenses Jaguars fans

It wasn’t just the outcome of Monday night’s game that had Jaguars fans fuming.

When Trevor Lawrence went down with an ankle injury in the second half of the team’s 34-31 overtime loss to the Bengals, Jacksonville supporters were perplexed over the sight of the quarterback hobbling to the locker room without the assistance of a cart — with some taking to X to ask one specific question: “Why?”

“How you got a swimming pool and not a medical cart?” one user asked of the Jaguars’ home venue, EverBank Stadium, which boasts in-stadium pools.

Another fan exclaimed: “Get your franchise quarterback a cart! Crazy.”

“No cart?? They got my man walking a quarter mile back to the locker room,” a separate user remarked.

It was also suggested on social media that Lawrence — who went 22-for-29 for 258 yards and two touchdowns prior to the injury — may have “refused a cart.”

Lawrence, 24, suffered the injury in the fourth quarter, when Jaguars left tackle Walker Little stepped on his ankle after being pushed back.

As Lawrence attempted to get back up, he dropped to the ground and tossed his helmet in frustration.

Backup quarterback C.J. Beathard then entered the game, completing 9-of-10 passes for 63 yards.

Beathard drove the team in position for a game-tying field goal to force overtime before the Bengals prevailed.

“It sucks for Trevor,” Beathard said. “It takes the breath away from the guys on the sideline to see him hurting.”

Lawrence, who has never missed a game in his three-year NFL career, was slated to undergo additional testing Monday night and Tuesday “to determine the extent of the injury and how much time he will miss,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported.

The Jaguars lead the AFC South with an 8-4 mark and are the fourth seed in the AFC playoff race.

They’ll visit the Browns (7-5) on Sunday.
