Troy Aikman, Joe Buck were so happy to see Bears-Vikings ‘Monday Night Football’ game end

Joe Buck said what everyone was thinking by the end of the “Monday Night Football” showdown between the Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears.

The 12-10 final and the play on the field left a lot to be desired for the national TV audience that tuned in to see the NFC North matchup.

By the time it was finally over, Buck and color commentator Troy Aikman seemed to have had enough.

“And with the Benny Hill music playing in the background, this game is over,” Buck said.

“Thankfully,” Aikman chimed in quickly while chuckling.

The comment came after the Vikings’ failed final play, which included plenty of laterals and zero threat of them actually scoring.

Josh Dobbs hit K.J. Osborn with a short pass and the Vikings wide receiver then lateraled the ball to another Minnesota player. The Vikings continued to do that in order to keep the play alive before it appeared that Dobbs threw an illegal forward pass.

“This looks like a forward pass and an illegal forward pass at that, but we’re going to keep playing,” a less than amused Buck said on the broadcast.

“This is entertaining, it’s not gonna count, but, hey, keep it rolling,” Aikman added.

The Bears and Vikings combined for six turnovers during the game.

Justin Fields helped orchestrate the game-winning drive for the Bears in the fourth quarter after he fumbled on the two preceding possessions.

The third-year quarterback took the Bears 66 yards to set up a Cairo Santos game-winning field goal, including a 36-yard pass to DJ Moore to set up the kick.

Santos put a 30-yard field goal attempt through the uprights to put the Bears up by two with 10 seconds remaining in the game.

It marked the first win by an NFL team this season without scoring a touchdown, with teams 0-28 prior to the game.

The Bears improved to 4-8, while dealing a crushing loss to the playoff hopes to the now 6-6 Vikings.
