Bill Belichick shoots down ‘ridiculous’ rumors he has next team picked out

Bill Belichick isn’t onto another team’s coaching gig just yet.

The Patriots head coach shot down reports he already has another coaching job lined up as the 2-9 Patriots continue to spiral following their loss to the Giants on Sunday.

“Yeah, that’s ridiculous,” Belichick said on “The Greg Hill Show” on WEEI.

Belichick’s status is one of the more fascinating NFL storylines since it’s possible this could be the end of an era.

The Patriots have never been this terrible in his tenure, and this year will mark the third straight season without a playoff win since Tom Brady exited town.

All eyes are on Patriots owner Robert Kraft and whether he would fire Belichick, arguably the greatest coach in NFL history, or give him a chance to rebound with a likely top-five pick — and potential franchise quarterback — in the 2024 NFL Draft.

While Kraft decides on Belichick’s fate, there are rumors circulating that Belichick could already have a few potential destinations already picked out.

“I heard a couple different places that were potentially attached,” ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky said on WEEI’s “Jones and Mego.” “They are not going to be shocking to anybody because they are places that have had question marks at the head coach attached to them throughout this season, I would say.”

The Panthers already have an opening, and there have been rumors linking Belichick to the Commanders since it seems they will move on from Ron Rivera.

The Chargers’ Brandon Staley seemingly is also on the hot seat.

Belichick declined to answer a question about whether he could see himself finishing his coaching career outside of Foxborough.

“Just trying to do the best job I can right now,” Belichick said. “Obviously, I need to do better.”

As the Patriots have struggled, its led to some questions about Belichick’s worth in the post-Brady era.

As usual, he’s not worrying about the outside noise entering Sunday’s home against the Chargers.

“I don’t worry about what everybody else is saying,” Belichick said. “I’ve heard good, I’ve heard bad. I don’t really care.”
