Florida State’s Jordan Travis carted off after suffering gruesome leg injury

Florida State quarterback Jordan Travis was taken off the field on cart on Saturday after suffering what appeared to be a serious leg injury.

With 1:57 left in the first quarter during the Seminole’s 58-13 blowout win over North Alabama, the fifth-year senior faked a handoff and scrambled for the first down, but as he looked to gain more yardage, he was taken down and appeared to severely injure his left leg.

The training staff immediately came over to attend to Travis, who was eventually loaded onto a cart with what looked like an air cast on his left leg as he exited the playing field.

Both teams went out to the field to wish him well, as fans inside Doak S. Campbell Stadium gave him a standing ovation and a cheer with his name.

Teammates and coaches looked distraught on the field.

“Obviously, our thoughts are with Jordan right now, but I was proud with how our guys fought back,” Florida State coach Mike Norvell said in an interview with the CW at halftime. “I don’t have any update but obviously it didn’t look good.”

After the game, Norvell said he didn’t have any further updates on Travis’ condition.

“Jordan went down, that was something that nobody ever wants to see a player go down,” Norvell said. “I don’t have any updates on it tonight. But I was proud of the way our guys responded throughout the course of the game.”

The Lions led 13-0 at the time of Travis’ injury. Tate Rodemaker came in to replace Travis and Florida State scored 24 unanswered second-quarter points to take the lead at the half.

Rodemaker completed 13 of 23 passes for 217 yards with two touchdown passes.

As for Travis, it was a bitter end to an impressive season in which he has thrown for more than 2,700 yards and 20 touchdowns with just two interceptions.
