Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade to feature 6 new floats — including Wonka-inspired chocolate tree

Six new floats will make their debut at this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, including a Wonka-inspired chocolate float.

The boisterous new additions will be cheered on by fans lined up along the streets of the Upper West Side and Midtown on Thanksgiving Day.

One of the new floats is the Deliciously Delectable World of Wonder by Warner Bros, which includes a “vibrant chocolate shop” that is inspired by the upcoming film, featuring Timothée Chalamet.

The float features the doors of Wonka’s chocolate shop, which lead into to a “majestic” cherry blossom tree, “illuminated candy jars” and approximately 592,000 pieces of prop candy that will bring the float “to life.”

“We really take pride in making it as realistic as possible on Parade morning,” Will Cross, the executive producer of the annual parade, told The Post Tuesday. “So when you see it coming down the street, you’re going to think that you can take a bite of that chocolate tree.”

Among the other newcomers is a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles-inspired creation, which includes the turtles chasing Rocksteady through a New York City block.

The Nickelodeon and Paramount+ float features 11 hidden hinges that allow the float to collapse enough to fit through the Lincoln Tunnel while it’s en route from New Jersey.

“We have some experience with getting our floats from New Jersey through the Lincoln Tunnel,” Cross said. “Everything you see here is built upwards of 30 feet to the tallest point and it all collapses down and built in a way, that collapses down to about 12 feet by 8.5 feet. So think about the size of a New York City bus.”

Car buffs and Good Burger 2 fans will get to “enjoy a taste of nostalgia” watching the Good Burgermobile ride down the parade route, according to a press release. The car features a burger hood, hot dog headrests, pickle hubcaps, and French fry windshield wipers.

The car weighs a whopping 5,000 pounds and is “equivalent of about 1,500 Good Burgers,” the press release said.

Wonka won’t be the only sweets-inspired float to grace the streets of New York, as Brach’s Palace of Sweets will bring just about every viewer back to their gumdrop childhood days. The magical float will showcase a rotating and colorful candy Christmas tree and feature a three-story tall gingerbread house.

The biggest candy cane on the float is nearly 10,000 times bigger than one seen on store shelves.

There will also be a new Snoopy float added to the mix. Camp Snoopy will feature Woodstock and friends perched on a tent covered dog house looking out for wild turkeys. It’s the first float in the parade that is longer than its bed, expanding eight feet past the bow.

Last but not least, Solo Stove will warm the hearts of viewers by “igniting memories” with their float, which creates a beautiful outdoor campfire scene featuring a camper, fire pit, and “idyllic outdoor campsite.”

The floats are built in a New Jersey production space and design teams begin working on new eye-catchers the day after the parade each year.

“That’s not a myth,” Cross said. “We do start the day after our parade.”
