Chicago alderman Carlos Ramirez-Rosa is just another prog bully

In the latest case of American progressives warring on democracy, Chicago Alderman Carlos Ramirez-Rosa is in disgrace after manhandling a black female colleague to derail a referendum that would’ve given Windy City voters a voice on local migrant policies.

The measure aimed to challenge the sanctuary-city rules that make Chicago a favored destination for illegal migrants waved in by President Biden, slamming the city budget in ways New Yorkers know all too well.

As Mayor Brandon Johnson’s floor leader for the City Council, Ramirez-Rosa also bullied colleagues with threats to delay their zoning requests if they did anything to let the referendum happen.

This follows progressive Rep. Jamaal Bowman’s stunt of pulling a fire alarm to derail a House floor vote.

In spirit, it’s the same as all the lefties ripping down posters of Israelis taken hostage by Hamas terrorists: The democratic response would be to put up your own posters, say of Gazan children harmed in the conflict.

And of a piece with campus efforts to shut down speeches by guests who don’t toe the progressive line.

As well as the angry demonstrations at the homes of conservative justices, plainly aimed at intimidating them as the Supreme Court was considering the Dobbs abortion case.

Not to mention the anti-police Antifa anarchists rioting in Portland, Atlanta and other cities.

Small democracy requires a clash of ideas and reasonable debate — usually ending in compromise.

The modern left rejects all of that. It’s their way, or whatever violence and intimidation they think they can get away with.

If liberals and civilized lefties don’t start rejecting these goons, they’ll be next.
