The Will Levis era is off to a pretty good start.
After falling to No. 33 in the 2023 draft, Levis made his NFL debut on Sunday for the Tennessee Titans with an impressive showing, throwing four touchdowns to lead the Titans to a 28-23 win over the Falcons.
The rookie QB went 19-for-29 with 238 yards and did not turn the ball over as the Titans improved to 3-4.
Three of Levis’ touchdowns went to DeAndre Hopkins, who had four catches for 128 yards.
It took Levis less than a quarter to create the first highlight reel play of his NFL career.
With 2:36 remaining in the first quarter and the Titans right around midfield, Levis threw a 47-yard touchdown pass to Hopkins to give his team a 7-3 lead.
The play electrified the crowd, which had given Levis a big roar when he was introduced pregame, according to the Associated Press.
Levis sprinted down the field with his arms out as he went to go celebrate the first NFL TD pass of his career.
The two connected again for a second TD pass late in the second quarter.
This time Levis hit Hopkins in the middle of the field for a 16-yard touchdown pass to put the Titans up 14-3.
Levis then connected with Hopkins for a 61-yard score late in the third quarter.
It was certainly a good sign for the Titans to see Levis and Hopkins already developing a quick connection on the field.
Nick Westbrook-Ikhine caught a 33-yard touchdown from Levis in the fourth quarter.
Levis started Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons in place of Ryan Tannehill, who was ruled out on Friday due to an ankle injury.
Titans coach Mike Vrabel had said during the week that Levis and Malik Willis would both play, but NFL Network reported midweek that Levis would start and be the primary QB; Levis was the only Titans QB to attempt a pass in Sunday’s first half.
The Kentucky product is the seventh rookie QB to make his debut in the first eight weeks of the season. He joins the likes of Anthony Richardson, C.J. Stroud, Bryce Young, Dorian Thompson-Robinson, Aidan O’Connell and Tyson Bagent.
