‘Snow White’ first look: Rachel Zegler as the iconic princess in Disney’s live-action movie

“Mirror, Mirror on the wall, who’s the fairest of them all?”

Disney has debuted a first-look image of actress Rachel Zegler in the titular role for it’s live action reimagining of “Snow White.”

The studio also announced that the release date for the film would be pushed back from March 22, 2024 to March 21, 2025, as a result of the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.

In the photo, the 22-year-old “West Side Story” actress is surrounded by her animated male companions, Dopey, Grumpy, Sneezy, Bashful, Happy, Sleepy and Doc.

Disney described the seven fellas as “magical creatures,” not to be confused with dwarfs, very early in the film’s production after it had been criticized by “Game of Thrones” star Peter Dinklage.

“Take a step back and look at what you’re doing there,” the actor said during an interview on Marc Maron’s “WTF” podcast. “It makes no sense to me. You’re progressive in one way, but then you’re still making that f–king backward story about seven dwarfs living in a cave together. What the f–k are you doing, man? Have I done nothing to advance the cause from my soapbox? I guess I’m not loud enough.”

In 1937, the original animated film, which was based on a 19th century fairy tale from the Brothers Grimm, helped launch the hand-drawn animation Disney would become known for.

The movie, which launched the first Disney princess, will feature new songs from The Greatest Showman’s Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. Directed by Marc Webb, “Snow White” will also co-star Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen.

Last July, Zegler shared on X (formerly known as Twitter) that “the love this film has brought me is magical” and she hopes to bring a modern touch to her character.

“We did a really deep dive into fixing and making a modern woman out of Snow White,” she told People. “Most of my character does not work for today’s audience, I’ll just say it. We did a really deep dive into fixing and making a modern woman out of Snow White.” she admitted. “I think she’s 13 in the original cartoon, so we started there and said, ‘No, she’s 18 in this one.’ She’s a bit more independent.”
