Who is Robert Card, the person of interest in Maine mass shooting?

The person of interest in the Maine mass shooting that left at least 18 people dead and 13 wounded is a trained firearms instructor who spent two weeks in a mental health facility over the summer, according to law enforcement sources.

The rampage took place at two locations, Just-in-Time Recreation bowling alley and Schemengees Bar and Grille in Lewiston, Maine.

Robert Card, 40, was the subject of a massive manhunt in connection with the horrific carnage in the city of Lewiston on Wednesday night, the local police department announced.

The shooting may have begun as a domestic dispute, with Card’s sister saying she believes he was looking for his ex-girlfriend at the bowling alley, ABC reported.

Card left behind a rambling suicide note for his son, which contained personal information such as bank account numbers along with his rantings and ravings.

More than 350 state and federal officials are conducting a desperate manhunt for the “armed and dangerous” Army reservist, that extends all the way to the border with Canada.

Canadian border officials have issued alerts and orders to “protect Canada’s borders against any threat,” with Canadian police checking on people attempting to enter their country.

The US Coast Guard has dispatched a boat crew and wing plane to aid in the search, but have so far found “nothing out of the ordinary.”

Card is from Bowdoin, Maine, and is believed to be an Army Reservist stationed out of Saco, Maine, sources told The Post.

A longtime friend of Card’s told The Post that the Maine woods were the reservist’s “stomping ground” and that the skilled outdoorsman is “capable of hiding for a long time if he doesn’t want to be caught.”

“There’s a lot of places you can be in the woods and never be seen,” the man added.

He suffered from mental health issues, and recently reported “hearing voices,” and threatened to shoot up the military training base in Saco, sources said.

Over the summer, he was committed to a mental health facility and released after a two-week stay, sources additionally said.

Card had recently begun wearing a high-powered hearing aid, which he blamed for the voices he heard in his head.

Card’s sister-in-law, Katie O’Neill, claimed that the weapons expert was having paranoid delusions that people at the two shooting sites were talking about him.

“He truly believed he was hearing people say things. This all just happened within the last few months,” O’Neill said.

The trained marksman “interacted with conspiratorial content online,” according to authorities, including fringe content about President Biden and gun rights.

Card and his ex-wife divorced in 2007, due to irreconcilable differences.

A phone number listed for Card was not in service, the Associated Press reported.

Card also apparently lost his job recently, CNN reported Wednesday night.

He studied engineering at the University of Maine from 2001 to 2004, though it’s unclear if he graduated, a school spokesperson told NBC News.
