King Charles promotes ‘hot’ equerry Major Johnny Thompson, makes him right-hand man: report

King Charles has issued a glittering promotion to Major Johnny Thompson — making him the monarch’s new right-hand man, according to a report.

Dubbed “Major Eye Candy” by social media users, Major Thompson again caught the public’s eye at the King’s coronation in May, and it seems as though we’ll be seeing more of him from here on out.

“The King’s pulling a decent trick by picking a social media sensation to be his right-hand man,” a source told The Sun, adding that the “fabulous” aide will now become a “super equerry.”

An insider told the outlet that Thompson, of the 5th Battalion Royal Regiment of Scotland, is set to leave the Army “within [the next] 18 months.”

The Post has reached out to Buckingham Palace for comment.

An equerry is an officer of the British royal household who assists members of the family, with Thompson tending to Charles since the death of Queen Elizabeth last year.

The hunky assistant was again by the sovereign’s side on May 6, and social media users were quick to drool over his presence.

Soon after, he made third place on Tatler’s Social Power Index, which details where the “real power lies in Britain.”

“It is from within the palace walls that the King’s equerry wields his unique brand of quiet, charming power; but he’s spotted where it counts, at the coronation, or on the opening night of the Berntson Bhattacharjee Gallery in Fitzrovia, for example, to which he wore a bunny tie and charmed India Rose James,” the index noted.

Equerries are chosen from senior officers of the British Army.

The 40-year-old had viewers swooning during the crowning service inside Westminster Abbey, quickly dubbing him “Major Eye Candy.”

Thompson first went viral during the funeral of the Queen last year. He previously served as her equerry and was her most senior bodyguard for a period of time.

Unfortunately for admirers, Thompson is off the market and has been married to his wife Caroline since 2010.
