King Charles’ ‘terrible mistake’ could spell ruin for the royals: expert

Royals watchers were shocked by the announcement earlier this year that an estranged Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s offspring, Archie and Lilibet, would be given the royal titles of prince and princess.

Now, one expert on the Sussex saga is speaking out — saying that King Charles, even if well-intentioned, made the absolute wrong decision.

Tom Bower, author of “Revenge: Megan, Harry and the War Between the Windsors” told the Express recently that Charles’ made a “terrible mistake” by throwing the royal lifeline to his California-dwelling grandkids — saying that the move could well end up embarrassing and even damaging the sovereignty.

By decree, Archie, 4, and Lilibet, 2, are now sixth and seventh in line to the British throne, despite the Duke and Duchess of Sussex making the noisiest of exits from the Firm, back in 2020.

“Harry and Meghan have undermined the monarchy,” Bower said.

“[Charles] should have cut them off straight away. He should never have allowed their children to be made a prince and princess,” he insisted.

Since the former actress, 42, and the Invictus Games founder, 39, made their high-profile move to the Golden State, a rift has formed between the spotlight-loving twosome and the rest of the royal family.

Tensions have since been more heated since Harry released his bombshell 400-page memoir “Spare,” earlier this year.

Bower also added that Harry “shouldn’t have been invited” to Charles’ coronation this past May. The army man attended the once-in-a-generation crowning sans Markle — quickly departing right after the service.

However, despite the ongoing issues, Charles, 74, is said to be looking to end the feud with his youngest son.

The monarch hopes to reconcile with Harry for “strategic” reasons, according to a palace insider.

The staff member told The Daily Beast: “Ultimately Charles has not just a personal but also a strategic need to resolve the issue. It’s not sustainable for the king, who is the national symbol of unity, to be on such bad terms with his son.”

The former Prince of Wales’ wife, Queen Camilla, is said to be an important figure in bridging the fractured and frosty relationship between the two men.

“The division between state and family is sacrosanct so Camilla will be pivotal in all this. She is the only one who will be in a position to advise him who he will listen to,” the source claimed.

Harry famously labeled Camilla, 75, as his “wicked stepmother” in his book, and called her a “villain.”
