Purdue vs. Wisconsin prediction: College football picks, odds

Wisconsin caused six Georgia Southern turnovers last week, including five interceptions in a 35-14 home victory.

The Badgers barely covered as 20.5-point favorites, but improved to 2-1 as they start Big Ten play at Purdue on Friday night.

The Boilermakers are off to a slow 1-2 start, capped off by a 35-20 home loss to Syracuse last Saturday.

In Purdue’s two losses, it has allowed 39 and 35 points, while its lone win came against a rebuilding Virginia Tech team at home.

The Badgers have beaten the Boilermakers in each of the last 10 meetings.

Wisconsin has covered the spread seven times in that stretch, while Purdue’s three ATS wins came as an underdog of 17 points or more.

The current spread is a more manageable number for Luke Fickell’s team to cash, as Wisconsin seeks its first road win after losing at Washington State 31-22 in Week 2.

The Badgers are still looking to play their first complete game as they have led at halftime only once in three tries.

Purdue posted an ugly 0-4 ATS record in its four home conference games in 2022, though the Boilermakers were listed as an underdog only once, which came in a season-opening defeat to Penn State.

Wisconsin should win at least three of its first four conference games before facing Ohio State on Oct. 28.

This is a big spot for the Badgers to step up against a Purdue squad that’s not ready to compete for the Big Ten title.

The play: Wisconsin -5.5.
