Driver who fatally struck NYC grandma as she pushed 2-year-old girl in stroller hit with charges

The pickup truck driver who fatally struck a Brooklyn woman as she pushed her 2-year-old granddaughter in a stroller has been charged with failure to yield, police said Wednesday.

Faheem Shabazz, 56, was behind the wheel of a 2022 Dodge Ram on 25th Avenue when he made a left turn onto Bath Avenue and hit 66-year-old Xia Ying Chen in the crosswalk around 1 p.m. Tuesday in Bath Beach, according to cops.

The grandmother suffered head trauma and was brought to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn, but could not be saved, authorities said.
