Anthony Rizzo’s bat cannot help, so he tried to use his mouth instead.
Two days after he was declared out for the season, the Yankees first baseman was kicked out of Thursday’s 10-3 loss to the Tigers for arguing with home-plate umpire Alan Porter.
In the bottom of the third inning in The Bronx, Jasson Dominguez was called out on strikes on a borderline pitch for the third out.
Dominguez remained in the batter’s box for several seconds, appearing in disbelief that he did not draw a walk on a full-count changeup.
He got his glove and the Yankees’ defense warmed up, but the chatter continued from the home dugout.
As the top of the fourth inning began, Porter pointed at Rizzo and ejected him.
Rizzo has not played since Aug. 1 and will not play again this season, the team announced Tuesday, while recovering from post-concussion syndrome.
