We discovered a big, boozy surprise in the walls of our new home

Forget beer — there’s 99 bottles of rum in their wall.

A couple unearthed a stash of spirits hidden behind the drywall of their New Jersey home while moving in.

Cathy and Roy Aukamp, 51 and 52 respectively, had only lived in their new house for two days when their basement flooded following a storm.

While removing the soaked sections of the wall, a cascade of empty booze bottles tumbled from the section of plasterboard that was cut away.

“My husband had to remove wet plasterboard and all these bottles came pouring out of one of the walls,” Cathy told Caters News.

In a video recorded by the couple, Roy can be seen shaking his head in disbelief as a seemingly never-ending stream of plastic flasks fall from the open wall.

“Thirsty? It’s five o’clock somewhere!” Cathy can be heard saying in the clip while giggling.

They shared the odd discovery on Instagram, inspiring commenters to joke that the couple “bought a house from Captain Morgan himself.”

Others, however, said there was “nothing funny” about the previous owner’s addiction.

Cathy revealed that the previous homeowner saw the viral video online and had contacted the couple.

“The person who did it saw the video after it went viral and reached out and said there are hundreds more but also that he is now three years sober,” she said.

Meanwhile, the Aukamps aren’t the only ones who have discovered bizarre treasure troves in home walls.

One couple unlocked a sleazy surprise, finding a stockpile of cigarettes and Viagra in their walls, while another man stumbled across a woodpecker’s collection of acorns totaling about 700 pounds.

Two different homeowners have also uncovered snakes slithering behind artwork and burrowing in drywall.
