NYC man killed after teen bashed him in head with rock, causing him to fall into Hudson River

A teenager beat a 42-year-old man with a rock during an argument in Upper Manhattan — causing him to fall into the Hudson River and die, police said Thursday.

Miguel Cortez, 19, was charged with murder for the attack on the older man at around 5 p.m. Wednesday on the waterfront at West 158th Street and Riverside Drive in Washington Heights, cops said.

The two men — who are believed to be acquaintances — were arguing when Cortez allegedly clocked the victim with a rock, according to police.

The impact knocked the older man into the water, authorities said.

Responding cops found the victim unconscious and unresponsive in the water, with apparent head trauma, police said.

FDNY Marine Units pulled him out of the river, and EMS workers rushed him to Mount Sinai Morningside, where he succumbed to his injuries, cops said.

He has not been publicly identified, pending notification of his family by police, the NYPD said.

Cortez, of the Bronx, was arrested nearby, cops said.

His exact relationship to the victim, or what the two men were arguing about, was not immediately known.

His arraignment was pending Thursday.
