MTA bus collides with bucket truck in NYC, leaving 8 injured

An MTA bus collided with a bucket truck in Manhattan Monday night, sending 8 people to the hospital, authorities said.

The express bus allegedly sideswiped the cherry picker near the intersection of East 48th St. and Madison Ave. in Midtown at about 8:30 p.m., police and fire officials said.

The Parkchester-bound BxM6 bus was traveling northbound on Madison Avenue when it struck the occupied bucket portion of the construction vehicle parked in the lane next to it, according to cops.

The windows of the bus broke upon impact, spraying broken glasses onto straphangers, police said.

At least three windows were completely shattered, according to photos from the scene.

Two passengers, the bus driver and the male cherry-pick operator were taken to Bellevue and Weill Cornell Hospitals with minor injuries. Some suffered cuts from the shattered glass, cops said.

Another four people were also rushed to Bellevue with minor injuries, according to the FDNY.
