Johnny Manziel says Reggie Bush deserves Heisman Trophy back: ‘Complete bulls–t’

Johnny Manziel wants Reggie Bush to get his Heisman Trophy back.

Manziel, who won the 2012 Heisman, spoke on social media about the former USC running back’s vacated trophy.

“There is nothing I want to see more than for Reggie to get his Heisman back,” Manziel wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. “I think what the NCAA did in that situation is complete bulls–t. He is one of the best college football players in history and deserves to be on that stage with us every year.

“The only difference between my story and Reggie’s is that my ‘illegal activities’ did not start until after my Heisman season.”

Bush, who helped USC to national championship titles in 2003 and 2004, was forced to return the 2005 Heisman Trophy after an investigation uncovered that Bush and his family accepted cash, payment for travel and a house, among other benefits.

“The story continues,” Bush told The Post’s Steve Serby that summer. “It’s not done yet. Stay tuned for much more […] Without a doubt [I think I’ll get it back]. Without a doubt.”

In “Untold: Johnny Football,” a Netflix documentary about Manziel released last week, the former Texas A&M quarterback admitted to making tens of thousands of dollars selling autographs during his time in College Station, which, like Bush’s violations, was prohibited by the NCAA at the time.

Bush, who has been outspoken about college athletes and money matters in recent years, said in April 2022 that he wishes he had gotten “proper financial knowledge” early in his playing career.

“Guidance is the one thing that young athletes coming through the college system miss on so much,” Bush told Playboy. “I missed on it. They’re about to start paying college athletes.

“This is something that has never been experienced before, and it’s going to destroy some people if their foundation is not in the right place.”
