Garland’s special counsel ruse to protect Hunter and Joe Biden stinks

Don’t be fooled.

The appointment of Delaware US Attorney David Weiss as special counsel to head the probe into first son Hunter Biden’s web of shady activities is likely no more than a complex feint by his dad and his pet attorney general, Merrick Garland.

Why else leave Weiss in charge

Garland had claimed, essentially, that Weiss has had all the powers of a special counsel all along.

Was he lying again then — or is he lying now, by pretending the prosecutor will get new powers to investigate and bring charges?

Recall that Weiss served as point man on slow-walking the first Hunter case until after the 2020 election and the statute of limitations had expired for some of his alleged crimes.

Then he delivered a joke of a plea deal that appeared to let Hunter skate for past crimes yet to be turned up.

(The deal has since collapsed, after heroic judge Maryellen Noreika called Weiss out on it).

Indeed, Garland’s move shows the same utter contempt for the rule of law that Team Biden has shown from the start on this.

The regulations around special counsel appointments require that they come from outside the US government.

That’s to help add a measure of independence.

Yet Weiss is an employee who serves under Garland, the AG tapped by Hunter’s dad, Joe Biden.

Here are some questions that need to be answered with the ongoing Hunter Biden investigation

Attorney General Merrick Garland announced Friday that Delaware US Attorney David Weiss would be given special counsel authority in the ongoing Hunter Biden investigation.

  • What promises did Hunter Biden make to his clients about how he could influence his father?
  • What did Joe Biden discuss with his son’s Russian, Ukrainian and Kazakhstani partners at Cafe Milano dinners in 2014 and 2015?
  • Did Hunter talk to his dad about Ukraine, Burisma and the prosecutor whom Joe Biden pushed to be fired?
  • Has the FBI corroborated details of a $10 million Burisma bribery allegation involving Joe and Hunter — or even investigated it?
  • Do Joe Biden’s bank accounts show any income from foreign business dealings?
  • Why did nine Biden family members allegedly receive foreign funds? And how much did each relative receive?
  • How much did Hunter spend on housing, credit cards and other expenses shared by his father, thus enriching the now-president even if he wasn’t directly paid?
  • Is the president “the big guy” mentioned in the emails with the Chinese firm CEFC and what was the 10% he was promised for?
  • Did Hunter violate the Foreign Agents Registration Act during his work for Ukraine and China?
  • Who are the buyers who reportedly spent $1.3 million on Hunter’s art since his dad became president? Did any of those sales feature illegal influence peddling?
  • How did the sweetheart plea deal come about, and why was Hunter originally offered blanket immunity?
  • Did Attorney General Merrick Garland commit perjury by claiming that Weiss could independently bring charges in DC and Los Angeles?

We’re really supposed to believe that Weiss is going to hold his bosses to account?

Recall too Weiss’ use of the “ongoing” probe into Hunter as an excuse to refuse a request for documents from House Republicans like Oversight’s Rep. Jim Comer (R-Ky.).

The stage seems set now for even more obfuscation meant to stymie those sincerely trying expose the Biden family’s high-powered influence-peddling operation and determine if any laws were broken.

Particularly those involving President Biden himself.

Prepare, too, for more delay: With Slow-as-Molasses Weiss at the helm, there’s no reason the probe can’t stretch until long after the 2024 election.

The whole thing stinks to high heaven.

Americans should see this move for what is: a desperate coverup.

Which makes you wonder: What exactly are Biden & Co. trying to hide?

Could this all be worse than anyone thought?

Comer and other lawmakers clearly need to keep pressing, no matter how much political interference may come their way.

This is a brazen move by Joe Biden and Merrick Garland to try to sweep everything under the rug — and the only place for the truth to emerge is Congress.
