Phil Mickelson, Donald Trump share handshake before Bedminster LIV tournament

Do you think they talked about their mutual acquaintance?

Donald Trump and Phil Mickelson met up and shook hands on Friday on the driving range at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in Bedminster, New Jersey ahead of the first round of this weekend’s LIV golf tournament.

The professional golfer is seen smiling as he embraces the 45th president, a day after it was alleged he placed a $400,000 bet on the U.S. Ryder Cup team he played on in 2012.

It was a bombshell claim by legendary gambler Billy Walters, who wrote about his purported betting relationship with Mickelson in his new book, “Gambler: Secrets from a Life at Risk.”

Mickelson denied the Ryder Cup allegations while acknowledging his prolific gambling issues.

Walters, previously incarcerated for insider trading, was granted clemency by Trump in his final days as Commander-in-chief.

The 2024 Republican presidential frontrunner is facing legal woes of his own as stares down indictments for a litany of alleged crimes.

A weekend on the links is likely a welcome change from their status earlier in the week for both Trump and Mickelson.

Catching a glimpse of either at the Bedminster course, however, won’t be easy.

Members at the golf club — who had to pay a reported $350,000 initation fee — are being asked to pay $40 to take in the LIV tournament, according to Page Six, a year after they were gifted free passes.

“All the members are pissed,” an insider told Page Six. “They’re closing the course, the pool, the restaurant, and we pay a lot of money to use those.”
