Miami Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey will undergo knee surgery after suffering a meniscus injury in practice on Thursday, which will sideline him for at least six to eight weeks, NFL.com reported.
The Dolphins cornerback appeared to injure his left knee after he got tangled up with receiver Tyreek Hill during 11-on-11 drills.
Ramsey was slow to get to his feet and tried to walk off the injury as he exited the field without additional assistance.
But Miami athletic trainers tended to Ramsey on the sidelines and carted him back to the locker room after practice concluded.
After the drills, Ramsey went for an MRI exam on his left knee, and it was determined he would need surgery to repair the meniscus injury.
Ramsey, 28, will have the surgery Friday, NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe reported.
The defensive back is expected to miss the six to eight weeks.
NFL.com’s Tom Pelissero reported that Ramsey could return for the season opener, or he could be out longer if the rehab process takes longer.
ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that Ramsey’s ACL is still intact.
Though it was an unfortunate blow for the Dolphins, who acquired Ramsey from the Rams in the offseason for tight end Hunter Long and a third-round pick, the six-time Pro-Bowler seemed to be in good spirits.

Upon Ramsey’s arrival in Miami, the team reworked his contract, and he agreed to a three-year deal with $35.5 million in fully guaranteed money.
Ramsey, who had spent time with the Jaguars and Rams, is a six-time Pro-Bowler and three-time All-Pro.
He has recorded 19 interceptions and 92 passes defended over seven NFL seasons.
