Aroldis Chapman relived his Yankees nightmare with Rangers — and the Astros were happy to remind him

Aroldis Chapman will forever have nightmares about pitching at Minute Maid Park after suffering a bit of déjà vu on Monday night, when the Houston Astros were quick to remind the former Yankees pitcher of what happened four years ago.

Chapman had been on the mound during Game 6 of the 2019 ALCS when Jose Altuve blasted a two-run shot that sent the Astros to the World Series over the Yankees.

The memory has forever been etched into the minds of Yankees fans, and perhaps Chapman himself all these years later.

It’s something that the Astros haven’t forgotten either, and their social media team was quick to point that out when Chapman found himself on the mound for another brutal moment against Houston.

The Astros trailed 9-6 on Monday night when Chas McCormick hit a shot to deep left field, which hit off the top of the wall and was ruled a home run.

The blast tied the game at nine.

“Deja Vu,” a tweet with a clip of the home run read on the Astos’ account.

Other users were quick to take shots at Chapman as well following the game-tying home run.

“Aroldis Chapman is a comedian and giving up a key home run in Houston is his favorite bit,” one user wrote following the homer.

“Chas McCormick just Altuve’d Aroldis Chapman!” another user wrote, noting the similarities.

“Death. Taxes. And Aroldis Chapman giving up home runs at Minute Maid Park,” wrote another Twitter user.

Prior to the game on Monday night. Chapman had been dominant for the Rangers since he joined the team on June 30.

He had a 1-0 record in seven appearances this season and struck out 12 batters while allowing only three hits and no runs.

The Astros would win the game in the ninth inning on a Yainer Diaz single that scored Kyle Tucker for a 10-9 victory.

The Rangers still lead the Astros by two games on top of the AL West.
