Weird But True

I was a weak priest until a madwoman attacked me at the altar— now I’m the ‘Hulk’

This ‘Hulk’ priest looks ready to wrestle with God.

Father Marcelo Rossi was violently shoved by an unstable woman back in 2019 — and the incident inspired him to undergo a complete transformation.

The Brazilian pastor, who has a whopping 7.6 million followers on social media, was once frail and weak.

But now, he has changed his lifestyle and feels more physically fit, four years later.

Local media have actually nicknamed him the “Hulk” due to his stronger physique.

To turn his life around, Rossi has used weight lifting, healthy eating and a better sleep schedule, not to mention prayer.

“Prayer is essential for the mind, it helps to bring peace, to find oneself in the face of life’s problems,” he told Newsflash recently.

He continued about his life change: “Training helps with everything, it brings us endorphins, serotonin and other hormones that also help us keep our minds balanced.”

“A balanced diet is key to helping your metabolism, and sleep is essential for health,” the social media star explained.

Before going through his metamorphosis, Rossi was depressed and suffered from insomnia.

He also was on medication to help alleviate a painful condition he battles.

Back in 2019, Rossi was giving a sermon in São Paulo when a 32-year-old female attacked him.

The woman — who had a history of mental health issues — ran up unto the stage and forcefully pushed the speaking priest off of the ledge.

He fell 6.5 feet into the crowd of people who had come to watch him spread the word of God.

Rossi escaped almost unscathed, and the woman had no charges filed against her.

The Brazilian news magazine Veja reported at the time that soon after the thrust, Rossi spoke about the incident once he returned to the podium.

“It hurt, but pay close attention. I was just going to talk about pain but I did not imagine it was going to be like this,” the priest declared, according to the publication.

Rossi was ordained as a clergyman in 1994 and also has a degree in Physical Education from the University of São Paulo.
