Wiz Khalifa throws ‘shroomed out’ first pitch at Pirates game

Was Wiz Khalifa’s first pitch a little high, or was it just him?

The 35-year-old rapper, a Pittsburgh native, was probably more than just a little intoxicated when he tossed out the first pitch at the Pirates game against the Cleveland Guardians at PNC Park on Monday night.

“Finna get stoned af and throw this first pitch at the pirates game,” he tweeted before the game.

“Shroomed out throwin a baseball is crazy,” he added just a minute later.

For what Khalifa advertised his first pitch to be, the offering wasn’t awful.

It crossed home plate in the left-handed hitter’s batters’ box but did not need a bounce to arrive, although Pirates pitcher Mitch Keller struggled to reel it in.

Following his first pitch, the rapper appeared to be enjoying his night at the ballpark, tweeting out a picture of a Cracker Jack bag and what looks like a soda from his seat.

“F—k yea,” he captioned the photo.

This is not Khalifa’s first time causing trouble when he’s been asked to throw out the first pitch.

In 2017, he mimicked puffing and passing a joint before throwing out the first pitch at PNC Park, prompting backlash from MLB.

“Marijuana is a prohibited substance in all of our drug programs. It’s unfortunate this situation occurred,” Major League Baseball said in a statement to the Pittsburgh Tribune at the time. “The Pirates have informed us that this should not have happened.”

Nonetheless, Khalifa was invited back and appears to have brought his antics along with him for Round 2.

Despite his best efforts, Khalifa’s first pitch does not seem to have led to any Pirates success, as they lost to the Guardians, 11-0, on Monday.

After a scorching hot start that saw the team take control of the NL Central, Pittsburgh has slowed down and is now 41-53, placing them out of contention for the division and likely the wild-card race as well.
